Our RE curriculum teaches the substantive knowledge associated with the six major world religions, and the disciplinary knowledge which explores how this substantive knowledge has been handled in different fields of enquiry over the course of human history: theology, philosophy and human and social science.
We want out children to appreciate and respect the world we live in and the people that live in it, and we place great importance on community cohesion by celebrating diversity and building tolerance. RE at Angel Oak Academy asks challenging questions focused on the meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, and issues of right and wrong.
Our Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum is a programme of learning through which pupils acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future.
The curriculum is based on three key threads: Relationships, Health and Well-being, and Living in the Wider World. These are then divided into smaller sections of learning. Our overall aim is to support the well-being and emotional development of pupils from Early Years to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In addition, we hope to give children the knowledge, skills and confidence that they need to lead safe and healthy lives whilst thriving as individuals in society.
