Angel Oak is a Rights Respecting School
At Angel Oak Academy, we take great pride in being a school that recognises, promotes and upholds the rights of every pupil. We firmly believe that every child’s voice should be heard, their rights recognised and their experiences valued. We are committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where all children feel respected, supported and empowered to thrive.
We actively promote a culture where all adults within our school ensure that children feel safe, listened to and confident in sharing their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Central to this commitment are our five Academy values: Passion, Urgency, Positivity, Aspiration and Commitment. These values guide our daily interactions, relationships and decisions, ensuring that children’s rights remain at the heart of everything we do.
At the core of our Academy values is our commitment to being a Rights Respecting School, where mutual respect, equality and inclusion are embedded throughout school life. We firmly believe that fostering a culture of empathy, respect, care and active listening empowers our pupils to become compassionate, responsible and well-informed individuals.
Through our Rights Respecting approach, we aim to equip every child with the knowledge, confidence and understanding to recognise their own rights, respect the rights of others and make a positive contribution to their school, local community and wider society.

As part of our commitment to anti-racism, Angel Oak Academy worked towards the RACE Charter Mark accreditation.
The academy achieved the Silver RACE Charter Mark and strengths were reported to include:
"Inviting the whole community to contribute has facilitated a rich dialogue around inclusivity and equality and the development of a 'shared language'."
"There is a clear commitment to continuous improvement and the embedding of revised Trust and academy policies and practices at Angel Oak Academy."
