Next Stop: London Youth Games!

On Monday the 12th January, the Year 5/6 Athletics team took part in the Sports Hall Borough Final Competition at Sacred Heart secondary school. With 8 teams in total having qualified from the 1st round, this was the best 8 schools in Southwark competing for a place at the London Youth Games. The Standard of this competition was really high and we had to be at our best to even be ranked in the top 3.

After various events, which included track and fieldĀ events such as 4×1 relay, 4×2 relay, 6 lap paarlauf, chest push, speed bounce and standing long jump, the academicians waited patiently while the officials tallied up the results.

With only 6 points in it, Angel Oak Academy were crowned champions of Southwark and will now progress to the London Youth Games, where they will be representing Southwark.

Mr Caesar would like to personally congratulate the team for all their hard work during Athletics club. It just goes to show, hard work and being kind really does pay off!
